Banish the Buttons!

Your browser comes with all kinds of crap cluttering up your screen. Just look at it all. How many times do you actually want to visit the Microsoft or Netscape startpage/homepage? Just twice, according to my informal survey. After that, you'd much rather be at the Kook's Museum.

TIP
Don't bother loading images while you're searching. Its quicker not to look at ads.
Netscape MSIE
Click off "Autoload Images" on the "Options" pull-down menu On the "View" pull-down menu, click "Options". Click the "General" tab, then un-click the "Load Images" checkbox. Click "Apply", then "Okay".
Search engines? I find its quicker to type in, say, infoseek in the location bar, instead of waiting for the Netscape all-in-one page with six search engines on it. I only use one at a time. (You can only use one surfboard at a time unless you're some kind of mutant with prehensile toes.)

TIP
Disable the Directory Buttons
Netscape MSIE
Click off "Show Directory Buttons" on the "Options" pull-down menu On the "View" pull-down menu, click "Options". Click the "General" tab, then un-click the "Load Images" checkbox. Click "Apply", then "Okay".
All the functions of the Directory Buttons are accessible from the space-saving pull-down menus anyway. So lose 'em!

Next, and this will be hard for some of you surfers, lose the Nav' Buttons, too!

"But I like my Back button!" some of you will whine.

Fine. Live in the Past.

Or maybe you have a huge monitor and couldn't care less about viewablw real estate.

Whatever. The rest of us should be flexible. Remember the words of Lao Tzu,

The brittle reed breaks in a strong wind.
